Who We Are P.A.T.C.H. (Pet Adoption Thru Caring Hands) is a non-profit private organization which operates a cat shelter in northern New Jersey. Our doors are open to stray kittens or cats needing a home, food, or medical attention. It is our goal to find suitable, loving homes for all of our shelter’s feline friends. We will never destroy a shelter cat simply because there are too many. This is our commitment to these wonderful animals that enrich our lives. There are no paid employees at PATCH, only dedicated volunteers. Please help in supporting our efforts by becoming a PATCH volunteer. Monetary contributions are always needed and greatly appreciated.

Fund-Raisers Fund-A-Feline Friend Our goal is to place each and every cat in a safe, loving home. If adoption is not an option but you would still like to help, perhaps you would consider our special “Fund-A- Feline Friend” program. For just $10.00 a month, you can help support the needs of one of our cats. You can come to the shelter and choose a cat to sponsor or we can do it for you. We will send you information and a photo of your special friend. You can even put a sponsorship in someone's name as a gift. Request more information by calling 973-835-7202.

Volunteers P.A.T.C.H. always welcomes volunteers who care for cats! We need loving people to clean our cats' houses, brush the kitties and help socialize them to make them suitable for adoption. We also need a handyman, licensed plumber and licensed electrician who can donate time for occasional repair work.

Adoption Procedures The adoption process begins with you stopping by the shelter. Fill out a "Pre Adoption Form". Placement advisor will interview you. Check out the cats and kittens. Ask all the questions you want. Placement advisor will be asking questions to find the "purrfect" match. Take your time, hold, play, brush the cat you like, make sure you're happy. Inform the placement advisor you found the one you want. Your application will be reviewed. You will be notified when you have been appoved. ***Please note*** Information you will need when filling out the "Pre Adoption Form" includes: your veterinarians name and phone number, if you are changing veterinarians, we still require the name and phone number of your former veterinarian . This allows us to verify a history and habit of proper veterinary care. If you do not own your own home, we will need a letter from your landlord stating you can have animals or copy of the lease that states that. This would hold true for Condo or Townhouse owners as well.

Placing A Cat To place a cat into the shelter, call the shelter at 973-835-7202. Leave your name, telephone number and a detailed description of the cat. We will call you back only if we have room.

Directions From the South Take I-287N to exit 53 (Bloomingdale-Pompton Lakes) At end of exit make right on to Paterson Hamburg Turnpike Go .9 miles, and make a left on to Wanaque Ave. (There will be a Valley National Bank on your left) Go .4 miles, make a right on to Colfax Ave. Make 1st right on to Lakeside Ave. Find parking spot, we are located in that strip of stores, on your right. If there is no street parking, make a right at the 1st driveway past the row of stores. That is the town parking lot. From the North Take I-287S to exit 53 Bloomingdale-Pompton lakes.
